Principal's Message

It is with great excitement that I write to you as the new principal of Idár Elementary School for the 23-24 school year!

My name is Nicolle Macias and I am so excited to join the Jovita Idár Community.  I previously served Acero’s Zizumbo Elementary School as Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach and classroom teacher. This is my seventh year in educational leadership and fourteenth year at Acero Schools. Prior to becoming assistant principal, my leadership experience included eighth grade graduate support, instructional coaching, English language proficiency teacher and assessment test coordinator. Even with these amazing experiences, I will always be a teacher at heart. I also have eight years of classroom teaching experience in Acero Schools; starting in second grade and finishing in seventh and eighth grade. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education grades (K-9) from St. Xavier University and a Master’s of Education from DePaul University in Educational Leadership. I am looking forward to working together with you in fostering a safe, productive and joyful school community.

In addition to being a seasoned educator and leader, I am also the mother of three awesome little humans: Vincent, Madison and Dominic. My twins will enter first grade this year and my oldest is a rising third grader. We like to run, play baseball, have weekend bonfires and Friday night movie nights. I coach youth softball and baseball and we root for the White Sox.  We also have two dogs, Bruno and Bowser, who like to run around and play fetch.

I know that Idár is a special place and I look forward to establishing a welcoming environment that empowers the community to foster, pursue and celebrate excellence.

It is an honor to lead Jovita Idár Elementary School and I am excited about joining this community and partnering with you in ensuring the success for this school year and for many more years to come.
