WELCOME TO  PHYSICAL SCIENCE!

I am excited to begin a challenging and memorable year of science! During first quarter, students will study chemistry, really digging into matter at the atomic and molecular levels. They will develop models of atoms and molecules, analyze evidence of chemical reactions, explain how atoms and mass are conserved, and explore how natural resources become synthetic materials. Major experiences will also include taking authentic data from our garden, measuring chemical levels in our plant/animals systems, and performing various investigations, with the forensic 'Mystery of the Mystery Powder' lab being a highlight.

Students have homework EVERY DAY. Homework Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be posted online. Friday homework will be sent home on paper. Parents/guardians/caregivers, please check in with your child/children about their science homework...we're all a team! I send home weekly communication that details what we learned in class during the week, a preview of what we're going to learn the following week, and important dates and deadlines to know. Please read the weekly message each week to stay informed about science class!

¡Me entusiasma comenzar un año de ciencias desafiante y memorable! Durante el primer trimestre, los estudiantes estudiarán química, profundizando en el estudio de la materia a nivel atómico y molecular. Desarrollarán modelos de átomos y moléculas, analizarán evidencias de reacciones químicas, explicarán cómo se conservan los átomos y la masa, y explorarán cómo los recursos naturales se transforman en materiales sintéticos. Entre las experiencias más destacadas se incluirán la recopilación de datos reales en nuestro huerto, la medición de niveles químicos en nuestros sistemas de plantas y animales, y la realización de diversas investigaciones, destacando especialmente la práctica forense titulada «El misterio del polvo misterioso».
