Congratulations, 8th Graders!

Congratulations on your graduation! You have worked hard, overcome challenges, and accomplished something important. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you.

As you begin this next chapter, take time this summer to rest, recharge, and enjoy being young. Most importantly, enter high school healthy, happy, and with an open mind that is ready to learn, grow, and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. High school will bring new experiences, new challenges, and new opportunities. Embrace them all.

Remember that your teachers at Idár will always be cheering for you. Do not be strangers. Come back and visit, share your successes, and let us know how you are doing. We cannot wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish.

To Our Future 8th Graders

Current 7th graders, next year is a HUGE year. The choices you make and the effort you put in during 8th grade will help shape your high school opportunities and future goals.

Please spend some time this summer researching high schools and exploring programs that interest you. Start thinking about what you want your high school experience to look like and what schools might be the best fit for your interests, talents, and goals.

There has also been an important update to the high school admissions process. Chicago Public Schools has replaced the former High School Admissions Test (HSAT) with the PreACT 9 Secure for students applying to selective enrollment and choice high schools.

The PreACT 9 includes four sections:
• Math
• Reading
• English/Language Arts
• Science

Important dates:
• Primary CPS Testing Date: October 7, 2026
• Test Length: Approximately 2.5 hours

Unlike the previous HSAT, the PreACT 9 is only offered in English, though accommodations will continue to be available for eligible students.

Use the summer to read every day, strengthen your math skills, complete your summer assignments, and begin preparing for the PreACT 9. The work you do now will pay off next year.

To Our Future 7th Graders

Current 6th graders, welcome to middle school!

Seventh grade is one of the most important years of your educational journey because the grades you earn next year will be used as part of your high school applications. The habits you build now matter.

This summer:
• Read, read, read, and then read some more.
• Complete and review your summer packet.
• Practice your entering 7th grade math skills and non negotiables.
• Stay curious and keep learning.

The students who enter 7th grade prepared and focused are the students who give themselves the most options when it comes time to apply for high school.

Have a wonderful summer, and I look forward to seeing everyone in the fall!

¡Felicitaciones a los Estudiantes de 8.º Grado!

¡Felicitaciones por su graduación! Han trabajado duro, superado desafíos y logrado algo muy importante. Estoy muy orgulloso de cada uno de ustedes.

Mientras comienzan esta nueva etapa, tómense el tiempo este verano para descansar, disfrutar y recargar energías. Lo más importante es que comiencen la preparatoria sanos, felices y con una mente abierta, lista para aprender, crecer y aprovechar todas las oportunidades que se presenten.

La preparatoria traerá nuevas experiencias, nuevos desafíos y nuevas oportunidades. Aprovechen cada una de ellas.

Recuerden que sus maestros de Idár siempre estaremos apoyándolos. No sean extraños. Regresen a visitarnos, compartan sus éxitos y cuéntennos cómo les va. Estamos ansiosos por ver todas las cosas increíbles que lograrán.

Para Nuestros Futuros Estudiantes de 8.º Grado

Estudiantes actuales de 7.º grado: el próximo año será MUY importante. Las decisiones que tomen y el esfuerzo que hagan durante 8.º grado ayudarán a determinar sus oportunidades en la preparatoria y más allá.

Por favor, dediquen tiempo este verano a investigar escuelas preparatorias y explorar programas que les interesen. Empiecen a pensar en cómo quieren que sea su experiencia en la preparatoria y qué escuelas se ajustan mejor a sus intereses, talentos y metas.

También hay una actualización importante en el proceso de admisión a las preparatorias. Las Escuelas Públicas de Chicago han reemplazado el antiguo HSAT con el PreACT 9 Secure para los estudiantes que soliciten ingreso a escuelas selectivas y de elección.

El examen incluye cuatro secciones:
• Matemáticas
• Lectura
• Inglés/Artes del Lenguaje
• Ciencias

Fechas importantes:
• Fecha principal de examen CPS: 7 de octubre de 2026
• Duración del examen: aproximadamente 2.5 horas

A diferencia del antiguo HSAT, el PreACT 9 solo se ofrece en inglés, aunque seguirán disponibles las adaptaciones para los estudiantes que califiquen.

Utilicen el verano para leer todos los días, fortalecer sus habilidades matemáticas, completar sus tareas de verano y comenzar a prepararse para el PreACT 9. El trabajo que hagan ahora les ayudará enormemente el próximo año.

Estudiantes actuales de 6.º grado: ¡bienvenidos a la escuela secundaria!

Séptimo grado es uno de los años más importantes de su trayectoria educativa porque las calificaciones que obtengan el próximo año formarán parte de sus solicitudes para la preparatoria. Los hábitos que desarrollen ahora realmente importan.

Este verano:
• Lean, lean, lean y sigan leyendo.
• Completen y revisen su paquete de verano.
• Practiquen las habilidades matemáticas esenciales para entrar a 7.º grado.
• Manténganse curiosos y sigan aprendiendo.

Los estudiantes que llegan preparados y enfocados a 7.º grado son quienes se brindan más oportunidades cuando llegue el momento de solicitar ingreso a la preparatoria.
